Job Description - Finance Assistant

Overview

My client is seeking a Finance Assistant to join their team. As a family-owned business, they consist of three companies, each playing a vital role in the UK pork industry. The Finance Assistant will be responsible for ensuring accurate and transparent processing of sales and purchase invoices, supporting the finance team, and producing reports for internal circulation.

*Please note this location is in a rural setting with no links to public transport.

Responsibilities
  • Support all aspects of purchase ledger, including nominal ledger coding and verifying purchase prices
  • Process sales ledger, including importing customer-produced pig sales invoices and verifying pricing
  • Reconcile supplier and customer accounts, resolve queries, and maintain monthly costing reports
  • Create online bank payments, process in Sage, and perform daily bank reconciliation's
  • Assist in generating pig management invoices and support day-to-day finance function across the Group
Desired skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant experience in a similar account’s role
  • Good standard of education (GCSE’s, including Maths and English grade C or above or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software packages, preferably Sage 50 Accounts
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail, time management, and reconciliation skills
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Completed or following a recognized accounting qualification or qualified by experience
  • Please note this location is in a rural setting with no links to public transport.
Day-to-day

The Finance Assistant will work closely with the Finance Director and existing Finance team to ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions, reconciliation of accounts, and preparation of reports. The role requires initiative, prioritisation of workload, and occasional ad-hoc tasks to support the finance function.If you meet the qualifications and are ready to contribute to our dynamic team, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
