Finance Assistant

• Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (Hybrid)

• Pay: £12.60 per hour (PAYE)
• Working Hours: 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to provide comprehensive financial, income management, accounts payable, and debt recovery support at Sheffield City Council. This temporary role is integral to maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of our financial operations.

• Allocate payments to back-office systems to prevent unnecessary recovery actions, focusing on Council Tax, Business Rates, and Sundry Debts.
• Manage the administration of Direct Debit failures for Sundry Debt accounts.
• Keep track of ongoing payment arrangements to ensure compliance and resolution of outstanding debts.
• Oversee bank journals and process refunds as necessary.
• Update the financial database following interactions with services or customers to support effective debt recovery.
• Contribute to the maintenance of monthly key performance indicators for the Income Team.

• Proven experience in financial administration, income management, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable and debt recovery processes.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of dealing effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office tools.
