We're working with a valued local authority client to recruit an experienced Finance Business Partner- a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional to step into a strategic, hands-on role that directly supports the delivery of vital public services.
This position sits within a Finance Planning Team that leads on budget setting, monitoring, and financial guidance for key service areas. It’s a collaborative and advisory role where you’ll work closely with Service Managers and Senior Leaders, helping ensure their services are financially sound, well-planned, and aligned with long-term objectives.
Key Responsibilities:Lead on budget setting, forecasting, monitoring, and financial outturns
Provide strategic financial advice and support to senior stakeholders
Monitor staffing costs and identify opportunities for cost management
Meet regularly with allocated service areas (minimum once per month)
Contribute to the Council’s Medium-Term Financial Strategy (MTFS)
Work closely with finance colleagues - no line management required
Occasional travel to Felixstowe and other offices as needed
Strong background in financial planning and reporting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to explain complex financial data to non-finance stakeholders
Ideally public sector experience, but not essential
Qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience
