This 4-month interim role offers the chance to step into a strategic Finance Business Partner position within a large public sector organisation, at a time of meaningful transformation. Capital monitoring experience is essential, as you'll play a key role in shaping investment decisions, advising senior stakeholders and supporting the delivery of major programmes. With a balance of home and office-based working (2–3 days in Southampton), you’ll gain broad exposure to service planning, financial modelling, and change initiatives – all while leading a small, capable team. It’s an ideal opportunity for a qualified accountant who thrives in fast-paced, strategic environments and is ready to take ownership of high-impact work.
Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for:
Acting as a key strategic partner to senior stakeholders
Providing financial planning, risk analysis and modelling to support service transformation
Delivering strategic and operational finance support for income, expenditure and MTFP planning
Leading and mentoring Finance Analysts and Accounts Assistants
Promoting financial acumen and understanding across operational teams and budget holders
Preparing management information and performance analysis to inform investment decisions
What you will need:
Must have experience in capital monitoring
To be a fully qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA or finalist considered)
Previous experience in a similar role, such as Finance Business Partner / Finance Manager / FP&A Manager / Management Accountant / Finance Analyst
To be comfortable operating within complex governance and control environments (public sector or similar)
Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling
To be confident engaging with senior leaders, capable of managing a small team and comfortable influencing at a strategic level
