Salary: C. 250-300/day (Umbrella) DOE

Role Purpose

The Finance Manager will lead the financial strategy and operations of the charity, ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and reporting. This role is pivotal in supporting the senior leadership team and trustees with financial insight to guide strategic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Prepare monthly management accounts, forecasts, and variance analysis.
• Produce year-end accounts and liaise with external auditors.
• Ensure timely submission of statutory returns to the Charity Commission, Companies House, and HMRC.
• Managing a team of two (Deputy & Assistant)

Strategic Planning

• Contribute to the charity’s strategic planning and risk management.
• Provide financial modelling and scenario planning to support decision-making.

Compliance & Governance

• Maintain and update financial policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with charity finance regulations, SORP, and GDPR.
• Support the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee with regular financial updates.

Operational Finance

• Oversee payroll, pensions, and staff benefits.
• Manage cash flow, banking, and investment activities.
• Administer Gift Aid claims and restricted/unrestricted fund tracking.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Implement and optimise finance systems and digital tools.
• Drive efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

Person Specification

Essential

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
• Proven experience in charity or not-for-profit finance.
• Strong knowledge of charity accounting standards and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Sage
