Finance Officer

Reed Accountancy Oxfordshire are working with a prominent organisation in Oxford who are seeking a Finance Officer to join the Finance Team. This is a 6-month Fixed Term Contract role with the potential of this becoming permanent should this work out for both parties. Paying a salary of up to £36,616per annum, offering hybrid working of 2 days per week from home, they are looking for someone to start imminently.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Process financial transactions including purchases, expense claims, payroll claims, and sales invoices.
• Monitor and report on financial compliance and research allowances for academics.
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure adherence to financial policies and regulations.
• Address queries from internal and external stakeholders regarding financial matters.
• Prepare and process ledger journals and transfers, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
• Assist in the planning and execution of year-end processes and other periodic financial reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in a finance role is essential.
• Educated at least to GCSE standard or equivalent.
• Proficiency in basic Excel, with a willingness to develop further skills.
• Experience using financial ledger systems.
• Strong communication skills, capable of dealing with stakeholders at all levels.

Desirable:

• Experience with the Oracle financial ledger system.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Finance experience in the higher education or public sector.
• Studying towards a relevant finance qualification (e.g., AAT).
