Financial Controller 6-month contract

They are currently seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to take charge of finance operations on an interim basis for six months. You must have worked in Financial Services to be considered for this position.

This contract position involves overseeing financial reporting, accounting, risk oversight, and compliance, while also playing a key role in ongoing finance transformation initiatives.

The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with three days per week based remotely.

Main Duties:

• Manage day-to-day financial operations
• Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including management and statutory reporting, balance sheet reviews, and tax submissions
• Safeguard the accuracy and reliability of accounting systems
• Act as a deputy to the Finance Director, including signing off regulatory returns
• Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory standards, particularly FRS 102
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, promoting strong performance, motivation, and policy compliance
• Uphold strong financial controls, promote risk awareness, and ensure alignment with FCA conduct standards

Candidate Profile:

• Background in financial services
• Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
• Demonstrated experience leading a financial control function
• Deep understanding of accounting principles and financial risk frameworks
• Proficient in Excel and financial reporting systems
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities
