General Accounting Analyst / Assistant

A global professional services company are seeking a number of detail-oriented General Accounting Analysts and Assistants to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering general accounting activities for our clients. These roles will inititially be 6-month contract positions and will be based on site in Hayes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle activities assigned by the General Accounting Lead.
• Perform a range of tasks from complex to straightforward within the scope of the function.
• Complete standard and non-standard tasks within the scope of the function.
• Escalate issues and seek advice when faced with complex problems.
• Recognize and act on non-standard situations, adapting work to business goals.
• Make decisions within parameters set by the manager, using job/specialist experience.
• Interact regularly with users around first-line queries/requests for information.
• Develop thorough working knowledge of one functional area.
• Assist less experienced or temporary staff.
• Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and organization in daily responsibilities.
• Adapt to learn new processes, concepts, and skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team.
• Escalate production issues to the team leader as appropriate.
• Comply with all client policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Qualifications:

• Preferably with a background in cost accounting and reporting.
• Knowledge of basic taxation.
• Previous accounting experience, particularly in General Accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Good team player with responsibility and accuracy in task completion.
• Ability to solve urgent matters and work under pressure.
• Flexibility, especially during month/quarter/year-end closing.
