General Driver/Grounds Maintenance Worker

• Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour (paye)

Rochdale Council are looking for a proactive and skilled General Driver / Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. This role involves undertaking both landscape construction and maintenance tasks to enhance the local environment. If you have experience in landscaping and hold a HGV Class 2 licence, we encourage you to apply.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Undertake landscape construction projects, both soft and hard, including rotavating, levelling, block paving, brick laying, and the construction of paving, kerb edging, and tarmac surfacing.
• Carry out site preparation work from plans, including measuring, setting out, and interpreting levels and design details.
• Identify trees and shrubs for planting schemes and assemble pre-fabricated construction items according to manufacturers' recommendations.
• Drive as required, including performing vehicle checks, cleaning, and transporting goods and personnel.
• Responsible for the correct loading and unloading of materials, ensuring compliance with weight limits.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Must hold a HGV Class 2 licence.
• Proven experience in landscape construction and maintenance.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift heavy items.
• Skilled in following detailed instructions and interpreting design plans.
• You must pass a practical driving test with a HGV vehicle as part of the interview process.
