General Licensing Officer

• Hourly Rate: £13.75 PAYE
• Location: Oxford City
• Job Type: Temporary (Immediate start, ongoing until at least December 2025)
• Working Arrangement: Hybrid 3 days per week in office (4 days during training period)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Licensing Officer to join the General Licensing Team at Oxford City Council. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and has a strong administrative background. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing various licensing processes within the city.

• Carry out daily duties associated with the licensing of taxis and private hire vehicles, alcohol, entertainment, late-night refreshment, sex establishments, scrap metal, gambling, road closures for events, and street parties.
• Ensure all licensing applications are processed in accordance with local and national laws.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all licensing activities.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide guidance and resolve any issues related to licensing.
• Prepare and present reports to senior management and external bodies as required.

• Experience in a similar role within a regulatory, compliance, or administrative environment.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using office software and databases.
• Required to pass a standard DBS check.
