General Operative

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturer in the Durham area, seeking an experienced General Operative. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking company that values precision, quality, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate woodworking machinery such as saws, sanders, CNC routers, and edge banders
• Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with fire safety standards and company specifications.
• Follow production schedules and work orders accurately.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in line with health and safety regulations.
• Report equipment faults or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
• Assist with loading/unloading materials and finished products.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or woodworking environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
• Familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a factory setting.
• Good attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy materials safely.
• Team player with good communication skills.
