Job Description - General Trading Assistant (Sessional Work)

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS:  No specified closing date, advert will be withdrawn when positions are filled.


DATE OF INTERVIEWS:  TBC after application is submitted



Hours:     As required and agreed, will need to be flexible and some shifts involve late working.


Days:       As required


Contract: Sessional


Salary:     Starting from £12.60 per hour 




Please note: At the moment, we are specifically looking for people to work in our Conferencing and Room Booking areas. These roles require flexibility as can involve late working.


               


Summary of the role:



Working as part of the trading team, the General Trading Assistant is a sessional role, which means we will ask you to work when required.  The role involves working in any of the different areas within the trading team.  These areas are:




  • Conferencing

  • Coffee Shop

  • Room Bookings

  • Reception



As a Trading Assistant, you play a key role in welcoming and supporting customers and visitors to Trent Vineyard.  Your focus is to ensure they have the best possible experience with us, as well as completing all practical aspects of the role to the highest possible standard.  As part of the application and recruitment process, we will discuss which area(s) of the trading team you are most interested in working within.  



Key Responsibilities:



Conferencing:



  • Set up before, and set down after Conferencing events

  • Welcome delegates and facilitators, showing them to their event room

  • Provide health & safety information to visitors on arrival

  • Prepare and serve refreshments (food and drink) for conferencing events

  • Assist in car parking for delegates attending events

  • Undertake cleaning tasks throughout the conference day

  • Other general tasks as required



Coffee Shop:



  • Prepare and serve food and drinks to customers in the coffee shop

  • Take orders from customers, using the till system to take payments

  • Maintain a clean and tidy environment within the coffee shop including cleaning prior to opening, throughout the working day, and at the end of the day, and completion of weekly cleaning tasks

  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene at all times

  • Other general front of house tasks as required



Room Bookings:



  • Act as key holder for evening and weekend events, taking responsibility for site security, including unlocking and locking up the site

  • Set up and set down rooms for internal events (evenings and weekends)

  • Act as responsible person in the case of an emergency situation (e.g. fire alarm)

  • Support the Room Bookings team in the delivery of larger events – Weddings, Thanksgiving services, large ministry events



Reception:



  • Welcome delegates, staff and visitors to the Trent Vineyard building

  • Give directions and advice as required

  • Respond to any telephone, in person and/or e-mail enquiries that come into reception, as required

  • Receive deliveries, and frank mail ready for collection

  • Other general reception duties



General Responsibilities (applicable to all Trading roles listed above):



  • Welcome customers, delegates and visitors to Trent Vineyard, demonstrating a high level of customer service at all times

  • Answer and assist with any queries that may arise from customers, delegates and visitors

  • Undertake general house-keeping tasks, keeping records of cleaning tasks completed, as appropriate

  • Work on the bar, serving alcoholic drinks as required

  • Where required by a member of the Trading Leadership Team, the General Trading Assistant will lead a small team

  • Undertake training appropriate to the role

  • Attend team meetings and training events as required

  • Any other tasks as required of you by your line manager

Experience



  • Work in a similar setting - events, reception or coffee shop role, is preferable

  • Leading a small team of people in a previous role, or volunteers at church

  • Work in a previous role that required a high level of customer service



Qualifications



  • Computer literate in Microsoft Applications



  • Knowledge of food hygiene and COSHH regulations, is desirable



Other requirements




  • Sympathetic to the Vision & Values of Trent Vineyard

  • The Coffee Shop is open six days per week, with Sundays being our busiest day. There is an expectation that Coffee Shop sessional staff work a minimum of two Sunday shifts per month

  • Wear a uniform, if applicable

  • The role involves some manual handling, so you need to be of a good level of physical fitness

  • Evening and weekend flexibility as required
