GIS Analyst (Interim)

Rate: £343/day (Inside IR35, via umbrella)

Contract: 4 months

Location: Hybrid - Remote and On-site in Central London

Salt's Local Government team is supporting a London-based authority in their search for an experienced GIS Analyst to provide interim support across their geospatial function. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and developing the council's ArcGIS infrastructure and delivering responsive GIS services to internal stakeholders.

You'll play a key part in supporting critical business functions by administering spatial data layers, publishing interactive maps, and troubleshooting issues across the ArcGIS platform. The role sits within the IT and Digital function and will involve responding to support requests via the corporate helpdesk, so strong stakeholder engagement and customer service skills are essential.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day GIS support via the council's IT helpdesk
• Create, test and publish interactive maps and spatial data using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
• Administer ArcGIS Server, including restarts, troubleshooting and performance monitoring
• Maintain and update spatial data layers (e.g. polygon editing, metadata management)
• Engage with internal stakeholders across services to deliver bespoke mapping and spatial data solutions

Key skills and experience required:

• Significant hands-on experience with the ESRI ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
• Proven ability to manage, publish and maintain spatial datasets and map services
• Practical experience of ArcGIS Server administration and support
• Strong understanding of spatial data management principles
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
