Job Description - GroundWorker

EXPERIENCED GROUNDWORKER REQUIRED - BERMONDSEY, LONDON£180-240 per day (£15-20 per hour)
Pertemps is recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor for an experienced Groundworker to work on a specialist project in Bermondsey, London.
PROJECT DETAILS

Duration: 10-day project starting 23rd June 2025
Location: Bermondsey, London - near Underground station
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Project Type: Infrastructure replacement and barrier installation

PROJECT SCOPE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIESInfrastructure Replacement & Barrier Installation Project
This specialist project involves comprehensive groundworks for infrastructure replacement and new security barrier installations at a Bermondsey site.
Primary Tasks:

Foundation Work: Removal and installation of reinforced concrete foundations and pads
Trial Pits: Excavation of trial pits for service location and ground investigation
Concrete Works: Specialist concrete operations including pad construction and structural elements
Backfilling Operations: Professional backfilling and compaction to specification
Service Avoidance: Working safely around buried services including HV cables
Ground Preparation: Site preparation and leveling for new installations

Challenging Working Conditions:

Working in potentially unstable ground conditions including subsidence areas
Operating around live buried services with strict safety protocols
London area constraints including limited access and tight working spaces
Coordination with utilities and other trades on active site

RATE JUSTIFICATION

Specialist concrete works and foundation expertise required
HV cable awareness and service avoidance skills
Working in challenging ground conditions (subsidence, buried services)

Essential certification requirements

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSCertifications Required:

Valid CSCS Card
NRSWA StreetWorks certification
All relevant groundworks certifications

Mandatory Health & Safety Certificates:

Asbestos Awareness
Environmental Awareness
First Aid
Manual Handling
RF Awareness
Abrasive Wheels
Basic Fire Safety Awareness
Locate Utility Services

EXPERIENCE NEEDED

Concrete Works Specialist: Proven experience in reinforced concrete pad construction and foundation work
Trial Pit Expertise: Demonstrated skills in trial pit excavation and ground investigation
Service Avoidance: Essential experience working around HV cables and buried utilities
Backfilling Proficiency: Professional backfilling and compaction to industry standards
Challenging Conditions: Background working in subsidence-affected areas and unstable ground
Urban Construction: Experience with London construction constraints and regulations
Multi-Trade Coordination: Ability to work alongside other contractors and utility companies
