Head of Communications

We’re looking for a Head of Communications for our public sector client on an initial 5-month contract paying between £600 to £700 per day inside IR35, depending on experience.

This contract is 4 days per week.

This role allows hybrid working with an expectation to attend the office as required.

The successful Head of Communications and Engagement Transformation will play a pivotal role in redesigning how the client approaches communications and community engagement. This is a high-impact interim role following the departure of the Head of Corporate Office - offering the chance to build a stronger, more joined-up model across press, digital, marketing, policy and community functions.

You’ll lead on:

• Defining and delivering a new operating model for communications and engagement across the council
• Working closely with elected members to establish a clear, shared vision
• Managing corporate office functions day-to-day - including communications, policy, democratic services, and community engagement
• Driving measurable improvements in public engagement and visibility
• Providing leadership and line management across a cross-functional team

You will need:

• Strong senior leadership experience in public sector communications and engagement
• A background in operating model transformation or service redesign
• Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders and lead change
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams across communications, engagement and policy
• A politically astute, outcomes-driven approach
