Head of Communications, 6-month contract, Immediate start

• Salary: £350-£450 per day

We are recruiting on behalf of a client who is at a pivotal point as they roll out a refreshed brand, updated strategy, and new corporate positioning. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Communications to amplify their impact across government and industry, both regionally and nationally. This role is ideal for someone who can hit the ground running, leading communications activities during a transformative period.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Develop and lead the delivery of the communications strategy, aligning with the refreshed brand and strategic direction.
• Promote initiatives through compelling narratives and targeted engagement across digital, media, and stakeholder communications.
• Build visibility and influence across key audiences, including industry stakeholders, UK Government departments, regional leadership, and research & innovation partners.
• Oversee the creation and distribution of content and campaigns linked to new corporate materials, website, and public affairs activities.
• Collaborate closely with internal communications to effectively reach a diverse, highly skilled workforce.
• Work alongside internal teams, such as the Head of Marketing and external partners, to ensure communications support high-impact delivery across priority programmes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience in senior communications roles, ideally within innovation, engineering, R&D, or public sector environments.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver integrated communications strategies and campaigns.
• Strong skills in brand positioning and reputation management.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and content development skills.
• Capable of leading cross-functional projects and managing multiple priorities with pace and precision.
• Familiarity with working alongside government and industry stakeholders.
• Experience working under a matrix structure without direct reports.
