Our client, a respected educational institution in Kendal, is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Maintenance Person to join their team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for ensuring the well-being of students and staff, and it may extend through the summer term or longer!

Position: Health and Safety Maintenance Person

Contract Type: Temporary

Hourly Rate: £16.50 - £18.75 (depending on experience)

Working Pattern: Full Time (Monday to Friday, 5+ hours daily). Hours can be discussed in interview.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Health and Safety Maintenance Person, you will play an essential role in maintaining a safe and clean environment. You will work with the cleaning manager to carry out checks. Your duties will include:

• Conducting regular inspections of classrooms, corridors, toilets, and kitchens for cleanliness and safety.
• Checking firefighting equipment and ensuring all safety signs are visible and legible.
• Ensuring that toilets are stocked with necessary supplies and sanitary disposal units are in good order.
• Identifying and mitigating slip, trip, or fall hazards throughout the school.
• Managing access routes for emergency services and ensuring fire exits are clear.
• Performing weekly and monthly checks of equipment, including alarms, lighting, and fire safety measures.

Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS check (essential)
• Previous experience in a school setting is beneficial
• Willingness to undergo safeguarding training (provided by the school)
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety
