HGV Technician

• Contract: Full Time, Temporary (6 weeks)
• Location: Rotherham
• Pay: From £17.79 to £22.50 per hour PAYE

We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician for a temporary position lasting 6 weeks, ideally with immediate availability. This role is based within the Fleet & Transport Services of the Council’s Regeneration and Environment Directorate, which plays a crucial role in maintaining and servicing a diverse fleet of vehicles to support essential community services.

• Provide high-standard fault diagnosis and carry out periodic safety inspections on vehicles to DVSA inspection manual standards.
• Conduct Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDI) and decommissioning inspections and repairs.
• Prepare vehicles for annual MOT inspections and present them for testing.
• Perform repairs to minimise vehicle downtime, ensuring quality over quantity.
• Work on complex hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems, occasionally using the latest vehicle diagnostic technology.
• Attend to vehicles at the roadside or other depots throughout the Rotherham Borough for repairs, which may include responding to breakdowns or accident damage.

• Proven experience as an HGV Technician.
• Strong experience in MOT preparation and servicing.
• Ability to work on hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic tools.
• Capable of conducting thorough safety inspections and repairs.
• Must be able to handle roadside and off-site repairs.
