Hays Education is working in partnership with 3 different primary schools in the Wigan area to recruit a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September 2025. Each of these schools has their own welcoming and inclusive environment. Your new role
This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified HLTA who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality support across the school, including leading whole-class sessions, supporting small groups, and working closely with teaching staff to raise attainment. You will be responsible for working across KS1 and KS2 so you should be confident in working across all year groups. This is also a great stepping stone opportunity for any ECT as this could lead to potential teaching roles further down the line.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons to whole classes in the absence of the teacher.
• Provide targeted support to pupils in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
• Assist in the planning, preparation, and assessment of learning activities.
• Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies.
• Contribute to the wider school community and extracurricular activities.

What you'll need to succeed

• HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience working in a primary school setting.
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective teaching strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to supporting children's learning.
