Secondary School HLTA - Autism Support - Lambeth

Are you a skilled and compassionate HLTA with a strong background in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)?

Or are you an experienced teaching assistant ready to take the next step in a Lambeth secondary school that champions inclusive education?

A dynamic and well-supported secondary school in Lambeth, South London, is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September 2025. This role focuses on supporting students with autism, helping them thrive in a mainstream classroom setting.

About the Role:

As HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with ASC across KS3 and KS4. Working closely with the SENCo and class teachers, you will deliver targeted interventions, support EHCP implementation, and step in to cover lessons when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with autism in class and through small group interventions
  • Help adapt lessons and materials to meet diverse learning needs
  • Provide 1:1 support for students with complex or high-level ASC needs
  • Lead classroom cover where appropriate
  • Collaborate with parents, external agencies, and school staff to support student progress

The Ideal Candidate:

  • HLTA qualification (or equivalent experience in a secondary setting)
  • Significant experience supporting young people with autism
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork skills
  • Confident leading both individual and group learning sessions
  • Calm, flexible and resilient under pressure
