Westminster City Council is looking for a skilled Housing Lawyer / Solicitor to join our Legal Services team on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high-performing local authority, supporting critical housing litigation and advisory work that makes a direct impact on our communities.

• Manage a live caseload of 50+ complex housing litigation matters

• Handle possession proceedings, ASB injunctions, disrepair claims, and tenancy-related matters

• Provide clear, practical legal advice to internal clients

• Represent the council in court and liaise with counsel when required

• Draft legal documents and respond efficiently to new instructions

• Collaborate with colleagues across Legal Services and Housing teams

• Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive (ICLEX or Law Society membership required)

• Strong track record in housing law, particularly possession and ASB litigation

• Comfortable managing a high-volume caseload independently

• Excellent communication, drafting, and advocacy skills

• Solution-focused and proactive legal approach

• Competitive day rate of £230 (Inside IR35)
