Job Description - Housing Manager

Job Title: Clergy Housing Manager

Location: Central Canterbury, with free parking

Contract: Temporary 6-month (To be reviewed)

Salary: £36,397 – £41,856

Hours: 35 hours per week

Team: Property Services

Reports to: Head of Property



Reed are currently working with a client in canterbury, where they manage a diverse housing stock portfolio of approximately 170 properties across South and East Kent. These properties serve as homes for our clergy and are also rented to the private market to support wider work. They are committed to maintaining high standards of service and compliance across our property portfolio.

Role Overview:

As the Clergy Housing Manager, you will lead the maintenance and repair of our properties, ensuring they are well-maintained, legally compliant, and meet safety regulations. This role involves coordinating repairs, supervising maintenance staff, and managing external contractors. You will work closely with clergy households, tenants, and various internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth property operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the property portfolio, ensuring compliance with security and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate repairs and manage various work streams, including urgent works and refurbishments.
  • Supervise maintenance staff and act as a client-side inspector.
  • Procure and manage external contractors for maintenance and improvement works.
  • Liaise with clergy households and tenants to resolve property matters.
  • Collaborate with in-house teams to maintain accurate property records.
  • Support the Head of Property in monitoring budgets and performance data.
  • Contribute to the approach to Net Zero Carbon in housing.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Broad knowledge and experience in estate and residential property management.
  • Proven ability to supervise works on-site and manage property projects.
  • Understanding of statutory requirements related to residential property.
  • Strong organisational skills and experience in budget planning.
  • Good computer literacy and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a property-related field.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to engage with the Church of England ethos.

Desirable:

  • Relevant building surveying experience or qualifications.
