This 6\-month contract with a local authority involves serving as the initial point of contact for most homeless clients. The role is crucial in ensuring the council fulfills its obligations under the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. The position requires conducting housing options assessments, providing high\-quality advice, preventing homelessness whenever possible, and supporting clients through the homelessness application process.
Responsibilities
Conduct housing options interviews, assess client needs, and offer high\-quality advice to aid informed decision\-making.
Negotiate and mediate with landlords, parents, and accommodation providers to prevent homelessness, including conducting home visits.
Deliver advice through various channels such as face\-to\-face appointments, phone, correspondence, outreach, and co\-location settings.
Utilize detailed knowledge of housing, homelessness, childrenâs, welfare, immigration, landlord/tenant, and family law to provide accurate advice.
Essential Experience
Experience in providing homelessness prevention and housing options advice to diverse communities.
Experience in a busy, customer\-focused environment, delivering excellent service.
Ability to negotiate with customers and third parties to achieve housing solutions.
