Job Description - Housing Options Officer

? Housing Options Officer – £36,000

?? Location: Essex
??Full Time | Permanent

We’re working on behalf of a valued client to recruit a Housing Options Officer to join a brand-new team that’s focused on delivering high-quality housing advice and preventing homelessness.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact from day one – helping residents find safe, sustainable housing solutions and supporting the council’s commitment to early intervention and prevention.

??Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored, person-centred housing advice to those at risk of homelessness
Carry out housing needs assessments and make decisions under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996
Develop personalised housing plans in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act
Build strong working relationships with landlords, support providers, and external partners
Maintain accurate casework records and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements

??About You:

Previous experience in housing options, homelessness prevention, or similar
Solid understanding of relevant housing and homelessness legislation
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Able to work under pressure with a solutions-focused attitude
