Job Summary:
⢠The Housing Solutions Officer will work within the Housing Solutions Team to prevent and relieve homelessness in Redbridge.
⢠The role involves providing professional housing advice, developing personalised housing plans, supporting vulnerable clients, and liaising with statutory, voluntary, and private sector organisations.
⢠The officer will assess homelessness applications under the Housing Act 1996 Part 7 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, negotiate with landlords and providers, and ensure high\-quality data recording for management and statutory reporting.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
⢠Provide advice on housing options in the public and private sectors, including temporary accommodation, social housing, and private rental solutions.
⢠Prevent and relieve homelessness through early intervention and personalised housing plans.
⢠Assess housing needs in line with statutory duties (Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Care Act, Children Act).
⢠Negotiate with landlords, accommodation providers, and other stakeholders to secure housing solutions.
⢠Maintain accurate records and ensure data quality for reporting and audit purposes.
⢠Support vulnerable clients, including those with complex needs such as mental health, substance misuse, or family breakdown.
⢠Contribute to the development of service procedures and housing solutions initiatives.
⢠Participate in out\-of\-hours homelessness support rota as required.
Skills/Experience:
⢠Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing law, including Housing Act 1996 Part VII, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, landlord/tenant law, and case law.
⢠Experience providing housing advice and support to vulnerable clients.
⢠Excellent interpersonal, advocacy, negotiation, and communication skills.
⢠Ability to develop personalised housing plans and implement effective interventions.
⢠Experience managing casework, including complex situations and challenging customers.
⢠IT literate with experience of electronic case management systems.
⢠Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines.
⢠Knowledge of welfare benefits, social care, and housing support services.
⢠Collaborative team working and contribution to service improvement initiatives.
Additional Information:
⢠The closing date: 05/02/2026.
⢠Hybrid working pattern with a minimum of 3 days on\-site at hospitals and mental health facilities in Ilford.
⢠36 hours per week, 16\-week fixed\-term contract.
⢠DBS check required (basic).
