Pay Rate: £24.35
Location: Lewisham
Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary

Are you a confident HR professional looking for your next challenge in a fast-paced, people-focused environment? We are seeking an experienced HR Adviser to join a dynamic Human Resources team, supporting a diverse range of directorates with expert advice and practical people management solutions.

About the Role
As an HR Adviser, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality HR service, offering expert guidance on employment legislation, employee relations, organisational change, and best practice. You will manage complex casework, advise on restructures, lead on projects, and contribute to shaping policies that support effective workforce planning and a positive workplace culture.

You will work closely with senior managers, provide coaching to improve people management capability, and support employee engagement and inclusion initiatives. This role offers an excellent opportunity to be involved in meaningful, organisation-wide change while working collaboratively across services to deliver impactful HR solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional HR advice and support on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, and absence management cases.

  • Advise on restructures, redundancies, TUPE transfers, and other change processes, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with organisational objectives.

  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

  • Develop and deliver training and workshops on people management and best practice.

  • Support the delivery of strategic HR priorities through data analysis, project work, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Maintain constructive working relationships with trade unions and employee representatives.

  • Prepare and present reports, briefing papers, and tribunal documentation as needed.

  • Collaborate with legal services and act as a witness in employment tribunals when required.

About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Proven HR experience in a complex, multi-stakeholder organisation.

  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

  • Experience managing a varied and complex caseload, ideally in a unionised environment.

  • Excellent communication, influencing and coaching skills.

  • A solution-focused mindset and the ability to manage change confidently.

  • CIPD Chartered Membership (or equivalent experience).

  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, with an understanding of how to embed these values into HR practices.
