HR and OD Advisor

Job Title: HR and OD Advisor
Location: Hertford
Salary: £21.11ph

Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm
Contract Type: 9 month FTC

Overview:

In this varied generalist role, you’ll provide day-to-day HR support and advice to managers and staff across multiple directorates. You’ll manage your own casework, contribute to HR projects, help shape policy, and work closely with colleagues across HR, Payroll, OD, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Onboarding, employment law, and employee relations
• Managing disciplinary, grievance, and wellbeing cases
• Supporting restructures, learning & development, and change management
• Contributing to the review and implementation of HR policies
• Using HR systems to streamline processes and improve reporting
• Supporting internal groups and contributing to service improvement initiatives

Requirements:

• CIPD qualified (or equivalent experience)
• Experience in a local authority or public sector setting
• Strong working knowledge of HR best practices and employment legislation
• Comfortable advising on complex employee relations cases
• Skilled at managing priorities and delivering on projects
• Confident communicator across all levels, including with external partners
• A collaborative mindset and proactive approach to problem-solving
