Job Description - HR Consultant - Local Authority

HR Consultant
  • Annual Salary: £17.79 PAYE or £22.61 Umbrella per hour
  • Location: Rotherham / Hybrid working
  • Job Type: Full-time, Interim (37 hours per week)

Join the HR Consultancy team at a local authority in Rotherham, which is committed to providing a professional HR service that meets high standards and aligns with HR best practices. We are seeking an enthusiastic HR Consultant to deliver exceptional customer service across the council's four directorates.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR advice and guidance, ensuring high standards of customer care at all times.
  • Provide casework support linked to all aspects of the employee life cycle, including recruitment, capability, disciplinary, grievance, Dignity at Work, redundancy, and retirement.
  • Support organisational change across the Council and with partner organisations.
  • Offer advice on the Council’s policy framework, maternity, paternity, and other types of absence.
  • Provide accurate management information and data analysis to inform workforce planning.
  • Plan and deliver learning events on a range of HR topics.
  • Assist in the development of HR policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Proven experience in a similar HR role, ideally within a public sector environment.
  • Strong ability to support and advise on various HR matters.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
  • Proficient in data analysis and management reporting.
  • Experience in planning and delivering training sessions on HR-related topics.
