Job Description - HR Officer

HR Officer
  • Temporary (Ongoing)
  • Salary: £30,559 - £32,654
  • Location: Gorleston
  • Start Date: ASAP pending Enhanced DBS check

Our client is a progressive Trust with an excellent mission and values. They are seeking an experienced HR Officer to support the team with HR-related matters within the group. This role involves coordinating and supporting the employee life cycle with assistance from the Regional HR Business Partner. Education experience is highly valued but not essential.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Ensure all HR policies and procedures within the school are current and compliant with the trust's standards.
  • Maintain accurate and orderly HR files, ensuring compliance with safeguarding and GDPR requirements.
  • Manage the MIS and personnel systems, ensuring all employee contractual details and staff data are up-to-date.
  • Provide reports on various HR metrics such as sickness absences and recruitment.
  • Handle changes to contracts, ensuring they are authorised and recorded accurately on the payroll system.
  • Maintain the single central record (SCR) ensuring it is correct, up-to-date, and compliant with safeguarding requirements.
  • Oversee the school workforce census and manage the probation and staff performance appraisal processes.
  • Support line managers with risk assessments and maintain an accurate bank of job descriptions and person specifications.
  • Assist with recruitment processes, from advertising to onboarding, ensuring compliance with Trust and school policies.
  • Issue employment documents such as offer letters and contracts, and maintain induction packs and Employee Handbooks.
  • Set up and maintain control systems for new staff documentation and actions required for staff departures.
  • Coordinate staff referrals to the Occupational Health provider and manage absence records.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in HR,
  • Familiarity with HR systems and databases.
  • Strong understanding of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle data with confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of payroll procedures is advantageous.
