HR Officer

• Job Type: Initial 3-month Temporary Contract (extensions possible)

Bolton Council are seeking a dedicated HR Officer to provide first line support for HR queries and onboarding functions. This role involves supporting managers in various HR functions, including recruitment, contract management, and absence monitoring. You will also provide essential advice and support on around employee relations activity, including disciplinary and grievance cases, alongside senior colleagues.

• Support managers by checking establishment reports and monitoring vacancies.
• Advise managers on creating effective job adverts and assist with recruitment processes.
• Assist in generating sickness reports, offering advice and support throughout the sickness absence process, and advising on related correspondence.
• Handle first-line HR queries and provide support on low-level cases, including disciplinary and grievance matters.

• Strong understanding of HR processes and legal regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
