Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Red Hat / VMware / AWS

Location: Hybrid - 3 days/week in Leeds office
Contract Length: 6 Months (Initial)
Day Rate: £400 - £450/day (Inside IR35)

About the Role:

We're working with the UK's number one flat-fee investment platform, who are currently hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their team on a key infrastructure project. You'll be part of a collaborative engineering function responsible for maintaining the availability, performance and growth of their compute and storage platforms, with a focus on Red Hat, VMware, and cloud technologies.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to BAU and project-based workstreams while helping the business transition to more modernised infrastructure environments, including cloud platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively support and manage infrastructure components to maintain high service availability
• Act on infrastructure alerts and monitoring tools to resolve issues efficiently
• Deliver enhancements to IT services via BAU, project workstreams, and internal initiatives
• Maintain and forecast infrastructure capacity and performance
• Perform regular housekeeping, patching, and system upgrades

Core Technical Requirements (Essential):

• Strong experience supporting and maintaining Red Hat Linux (RHEL) environments
• Proven ability to perform in-place upgrades from RHEL 7 to later versions (8/9)
• Solid understanding of VMware ESXi 8.x and vCentre
• OS patching, server builds, and performance tuning in enterprise environments

Preferred Skills (Desirable):

• Experience migrating infrastructure or services to AWS
• Familiarity with AWS EKS, Amazon Linux Imaging (AMI)
• Exposure to Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022), including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
• Experience managing VMware datastores and LUNs, including performance tuning and capacity planning
• Knowledge of vRealize Operations, Log Insight, and Network Insight tools
