Job Description - Interim Assistant Management Accountant

Ivy Rock Partners is proud to be partnering exclusively with a world-renowned university, to recruit an interim Assistant Management Accountant into their Corporate Activities team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-career finance professional looking to gain hands-on experience in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting - all within a collaborative and values-driven environment.

The Role

You’ll be an integral part of the university’s Corporate Activities team, working alongside experienced management accountants to deliver accurate, timely financial support to a range of stakeholders.

This role offers the chance to:

  • Process payroll journals, income allocations, and budget adjustments.

  • Support with monthly reporting, reconciliations, tuition fee allocations and deferrals.

  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting cycles using sector-specific tools.

  • Contribute to year-end processes and audit readiness.

  • Provide financial insights that enable strategic decision-making across faculties and directorates.

This is more than a transactional finance role - it’s a position that plays a key part in enabling the long-term success of a globally recognised institution.

About You
  • Strong with Excel and enjoys problem-solving using financial data.

  • Confident working with accounting systems (ERP/finance packages).

  • Able to communicate finance clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

  • Eager to learn and develop within a supportive team environment.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • An AAT Level 3 qualification (or be working towards an accounting qualification).

  • Experience working in a finance setting, with some understanding of management accounts.

Experience within higher education is a bonus but not essential.
