Interim Capital Accountant

The Interim Capital Accountant will provide expertise in managing and overseeing capital accounting processes for a growing organisation. This temporary role is based near Maidenhead and requires a strong focus on financial reporting and compliance within the Accounting & Finance department.

Description

• Overseeing the accounting and financial reporting of capital projects, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
• Managing the fixed asset register and supporting processes for capitalisation, depreciation, and disposals
• Working closely with operational teams to track and report on capital expenditure against budget
• Supporting year-end and audit requirements related to capital and asset accounting
• Reviewing and enhancing capital accounting controls and procedures
• Providing clear and insightful financial information to support decision-making and project delivery

Profile

A successful Interim Capital Accountant should have:

• A fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong capital accounting experience
• A sound understanding of accounting for capital projects and fixed assets, ideally gained in environments with significant property or infrastructure portfolios
• Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems (e.g. SUN, Oracle, or similar)
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across finance and operational teams
• Ideally, previous experience in Estates, Property, Construction or Housing Association
