Our client, a local authority, is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Accountant to lead their corporate accounting function. This hands-on role requires both strategic oversight and technical expertise to ensure financial integrity and compliance within the public sector.

Key Requirements:

• Manage the corporate finance function, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance
• Deliver hands-on financial work, including budgeting, audit processes, tax compliance, and IFRS reporting
• Ensure adherence to local government financial regulations while improving internal controls and processes
• Manage and mentor finance teams, providing strategic direction and ensuring effective execution
• Work closely with senior leadership and council members to support financial decision-making
