Interim Chief Finance Officer

This pivotal role collaborates closely with the Principal and the chamberlain, to drive strategic financial planning and operational excellence, ensuring the School's position as a world-leading conservatoire.

• Collaborate with the Principal to develop and implement financial strategies that ensure the financial sustainability and budgetary control of the School.
• Oversee business efficiency, resilience, and risk management, and manage organisational change.
• Lead the financial planning and operations, ensuring direct service delivery of key corporate functions.
• Develop and manage strategic change programmes aligned with the School’s artistic and educational objectives.
• Chair the Planning and Operations Committee, ensuring objectives are met and targets are regularly updated.
• Maintain and report on the School's Business Plan and Risk Register, ensuring compliance with audit and risk requirements.
• Support the Finance team through significant financial operations and systems improvements.
• Work closely with the Development & Alumni Relations Office to identify fundraising needs and targets.

• Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in managing large financial operations.
• Proven experience in strategic finance and operational delivery within Higher Education, Arts, Finance, or the Third Sector.
• Demonstrable experience in business planning and setting and achieving strategic objectives.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in managing complex budgets and delivering insightful financial analysis.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of governance in higher education and familiarity with regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
