A leading Local Authority in the Midlands is seeking an experienced Interim Commercial Financial Analyst to support a high-impact review to drive forward its commercial strategy.

In this pivotal role, you will play a hands-on part in enhancing the financial and operational performance of a services. You will lead on commercial data analysis, reporting and systems development-working closely with senior stakeholders to inform decision-making and support future service delivery models.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on corporate data analytics and contribute to the development of a new database.
• Analyse commercial and financial data across services to inform strategic planning.
• Support business performance monitoring, capital project tracking, and the implementation of improved internal reporting.
• Produce high-quality reports and insights for senior managers and elected members.
• Promote commercial awareness and improve data processes across the organisation.
• Deliver projects aimed at validating results and standardising reporting across multiple service areas.

Essential skills

• Strong background in data analysis and commercial finance-ideally gained within local government or a large public sector setting.
• Confident using complex financial systems (Oracle experience preferred) and Excel-based tools for data manipulation and insight.
• Able to work with large data sets and translate technical findings into clear, actionable outputs.
• Effective communicator with experience presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• High integrity with a commitment to managing confidential commercial data responsibly.
