Our client, a Local Authority based in the South East, is seeking an Interim Commercial Lead Lawyer to join their Legal Services team from late August, for an initial period of 6 months.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join a forward-thinking Local Authority. The successful Lawyer will be able to undertake this role on a hybrid working basis, with attendance required in the office approximately once per week.

Responsibilities of the Interim Commercial Lead Lawyer:

• Be the first point of contact for all legal commissioning work related to Commercial, Contracts, Procurement, Companies and Local Government Specialisms and document execution and subsequently manage the progress of legal work
• Line management of two lawyers
• Work collaboratively and make proactive connections across the council to develop and continuously review organisation wide legal commissioning needs and strategies
• Commission Legal advice or legal project work, in line with the principles of the Council's internal commissioning framework
• Act as a member of the senior management team within the Legal Commissioning Team assisting with team strategy, business planning and implementation of the same

Experience required for the Interim Commercial Lead Lawyer:

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive
• Experience of corporate, commercial and procurement work
• Experience in managing a team of people
