The Client

Harmonic are delighted to be working with a fast-growing retail brand to find them a Financial Controller initially on a fixed term contract, with the possibility of being transferred to permanent employment thereafter.

Our client has carved out a niche in their market and have seen significant growth over the past several years. They currently have a single storefront in a fashionable area of London as well as a thriving online marketplace which has vastly increased the scale of their brand awareness and means they can operate nationally.

The role

This position will work directly with the managing director and SLT, as well as the oversight of several more junior colleagues in the finance team. The role will be broad, overseeing all aspects of finance and will require a candidate with excellent time management skills. Remaining hands on with the day-to-day finances is essential, however it is also vital that the successful candidate is able to take a step back and take an overall view of financial strategy.

Responsibilities

• Monthly Management Accounts and month end close.
• Act as a business partner to other areas of the business, including IT, Sales, and HR.
• Develop relevant KPI's to assess business performance.
• Work with the managing director to develop a long-term strategic business plan.
• Monitor cashflow.
• Train and develop two more junior finance team members.
• Balance sheet reconciliations.
• VAT returns
• Manage compliance for group entities.
• Review financial performance of the business.

Essential Skills

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
• Comfortable taking responsibility for an entire finance function.
• A willingness to roll up sleeves and get hands on with finance.
• Strong knowledge of multicurrency accounting.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting principles.

Bonus Experience

• Experience in a Retail and/or e-commerce.
• Experience using Sage 200

Location: South West London (3 days per week in office: 2 days WFH)

Start Date: Mid-August
