Interim Head of Financial Accounting - Higher Education

Location: Hybrid/London
Day Rate: £800-£1000 (Inside IR35) dependant on experience
Contract Length: 6-9 months

Our higher education client is seeking an Interim Head of Financial Accounting to lead their financial reporting function during a critical period.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver the Group Financial Statements and manage the statutory audit within strict deadlines.
• Oversee the Financial Accounting team, ensuring high-quality financial reporting in a complex environment.
• Lead the year-end process, working closely with a Big 4 audit firm to resolve technical accounting and audit issues.
• Work flexibly, at times supporting the Deputy Head of Financial Accounts and at other times leading the team.
• Collaborate with the Finance Director and wider finance team.
• Prepare complex consolidations and be fully hands-on with general ledger postings when required.

Essential Experience:

• CCAB Qualified
• Proven experience leading complex year-end processes.
• Strong technical accounting expertise and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Hands-on experience in consolidations and general ledger postings.
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with a detailed, hands-on approach.
