Join the Highways Service in Manchester as a Highway Structures Lead, where you will spearhead the management and coordination of bridge and highway structures services. This role is crucial in ensuring the effective deployment of resources to deliver contract management, commissioning, commercial activity, and business improvement. You will be instrumental in driving the design, implementation, and monitoring of policies and frameworks, supporting the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.

• Lead the development and implementation of strategic responses, providing specialist advice to support the delivery of organisational priorities.
• Manage all aspects of contract or service agreements, including strategic reviews to ensure services are fit for purpose.
• Ensure effective commercial performance management and continuous improvement against key performance indicators.
• Represent the service in various meetings and forums, actively driving the delivery of priorities.
• Analyze and review services, implementing changes to improve performance and meet the needs of stakeholders.
• Manage a range of resources, ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery.

• A relevant technical qualification in civil or structural engineering (e.g., B.Eng., MEng).
• Membership of a professional institution such as MICE or MIStructE, with Chartered Engineer status.
• Expert knowledge of technical standards, specifications, and legislation related to highway bridges and structures.
• Strong leadership skills with experience in managing both direct and virtual teams.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
