Job Description - Interim HR Advisor

We are seeking an experienced Interim HR Advisor to provide essential support in human resources management within the not-for-profit sector. This temporary role based in Merseyside offers a rewarding opportunity to help drive impactful outcomes in a hybrid working environment.

This role is with a small-sized Liverpool based charity. They are committed to making a difference in the community and fostering a supportive work environment that values expertise in human resources.

Description

We're looking for an experienced Interim HR Advisor to provide vital first-line employee relations support during a period of structural review. Working closely with managers across your designated area, you'll be the first point of contact for a range of HR queries, helping to deliver high-quality, compliant advice in a fast-paced, mission-driven setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build strong relationships, contribute to meaningful work, and potentially progress into a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first-line HR advice and guidance across the full employee lifecycle (excluding recruitment)

  • Manage a busy HR inbox, triaging and responding to queries from your aligned business division

  • Support managers remotely in formal meetings (e.g. absence reviews, disciplinary, grievance, performance)

  • Ensure ongoing compliance in line with employment law and internal policies

  • Maintain accurate employee records, particularly in relation to visa status and right to work

  • Contribute to wider policy reviews and organisational development work as required

Profile

A successful Interim HR Advisor should have:

  • CIPD qualified (or working towards)

  • Proven HR experience at Advisor level, ideally in a complex or values-led organisation

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice

  • Confident handling employee relations cases and advising managers remotely

  • Experience or understanding of compliance requirements around sponsorship/visa status is a plus

  • Proactive, organised, and able to work independently with sound judgement

  • Experience gained in the Not For Profit and Charities sector or Social Care or Education would be advantageous
