IT Security Operations Lead - Financial Services (Contract)

£585 Per Day Outside IR35

3 Days Per Week On Site (Central London)

We're looking for a seasoned IT Security Operations Lead with a strong background in financial services to provide interim leadership during a critical phase of our security operations transformation. This role supports the transition to a new Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP), ensuring operational continuity, cyber resilience, and audit readiness throughout.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor L2/L3 security analysts, ensuring high performance and effective prioritisation.

• Oversee day-to-day SOC operations - monitoring, triage, escalation, and incident response.

• Drive operational maturity, process improvement, and threat management initiatives.

• Ensure timely delivery of audit evidence, compliance reporting (e.g., NIST CSF), and internal controls.

• Lead response to major incidents and support on-call rota coordination.

• Support MSSP transition, including detailed documentation and knowledge transfer.

What You'll Bring:

• Proven leadership in IT Security Operations or SOC roles within financial services or similarly regulated environments.

• Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat intelligence.

• Experience in MSSP onboarding or third-party security transitions.

• Strong technical knowledge: Microsoft security stack, EDR, MITRE ATT&CK, vulnerability tools, and file integrity monitoring.

• Hands-on experience with enterprise networks (Cisco, Checkpoint), ServiceNow, and Jira.

• Clear, concise communication across technical and business stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and/or relevant certifications (CompTIA Security+, SSCP, etc.)
