Janitor

Location: Dumfries, DG1 4FD
Duration: 3 months
Hours: 35 per week
Pay Rate: £14.45 per hour
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role:
We are recruiting a Janitor for a third-party client based in Dumfries. This is a key role providing a high-quality, customer-facing support service to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of the building.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide a high-quality support service for the buildings and grounds.
Patrol buildings and grounds, ensuring users comply with conduct, noise, and food policies.
Supervise the main entrance and surrounding areas, enforcing no-smoking and parking rules.
Assist with building access and maintenance during emergencies such as snow or minor floods.
Support statutory testing and compliance checks, including fire safety and legionella checks.
Provide janitorial assistance for College events, including evening and external functions.
Relocate equipment and furniture for events and room setups.
Assist in maintaining the security of the premises and conduct minor maintenance tasks.

Key Skills & Requirements:

Experience in a janitorial or maintenance role.
A valid driving licence.
PVG certification for working with adults and children (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Understanding of key-holding operations.
Knowledge of fire and security alarm systems.
Ability to follow risk assessments and method statements before engaging in tasks.
