Technical Java Architect - Financial Services

Rate - £500 per day Outside IR35

Duration - 6 months

Location - Canary Wharf (2/3 times a week)

Our client undertaking a comprehensive digital transformation programme aimed at delivering a leaner, more digital and operationally effective institution. As part of this strategic journey, they're seeking an experienced and hands-on Technical Architect to lead the end-to-end design and implementation of technology solutions in the areas of Limits Management and Payment Processing. These are critical domains within the Treasury and Risk functions, underpinning secure and compliant financial operations, exposure monitoring, and cross-border payment execution.

This role is embedded within the Bank's IT Architecture team, with a specific focus on the Treasury, Risk & Operations (TRO) capability. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping, validating, and guiding the technical architecture for projects that span multiple systems and stakeholders, including core banking, treasury, ERP, integration, and security platforms.

Experience

• Proven track record of solution architecture in banking or financial services, particularly in Treasury, Risk or Operations domains.
• Strong understanding of:
  • Payment processing architectures (including SWIFT, BACS, Faster Payments)
  • Limits and Exposure Management platforms (e.g., internal limit engines, Murex, Calypso, SAP TRM)
  • Treasury data models (counterparty, instrument, exposure, SSI, cash flows)
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Azure Cloud Platform, APIs, microservices, and integration patterns
  • ERP platforms - payment orchestration tools
• Knowledge of security and compliance practices, especially in payments and exposure monitoring
• Hands on Technical Skills - Java
