Your new company
Hays Recruitment is proud to be supporting a single-form entry mainstream primary school in Winsford that is at the heart of its local community as they are looking to appoint an experienced and competent teaching assistant to work within their year 6 class on a full-time temporary contract (32.5 hours per week). This contract will last until January in the first instance with plans to extend if funding continues.

Your new role
As a year 6 teaching assistant within this school, you will play an integral part of the year 6 teaching team. You will support the class teacher in the delivery of an engaging and stimulating learning environment by utilising an array of learning equipment, associating lessons with pupils' key interests and treating your pupils as the individuals they are. You will take the lead on interventions, delivering sessions mainly on a group basis in all core subjects to promote lesson input and supporting pupils of lower ability on a 1:1 basis within a separate classroom to ensure that shortfalls are quickly turned into areas of strength. To ensure that all pupils are engaged in learning, you will implement an array of positive behaviour strategies such as movement breaks, brain breaks, DOJO/reward charts and Now & Next as required. This school is extremely hopeful that the contract will be extended until the end of the academic year and, in the instance it does, you will support with SATs preparation in the form of interventions and boosters in individual pupil key areas and mock exams.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience within a year 6 class in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Expert knowledge of the KS2 national curriculum,
  • Experience delivering interventions and boosters in Maths and English
  • Be at least NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified
