The Supply Register is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join Newcastle College. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in supporting learners in further education, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide high-quality support to post-16 learners, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes student progress and independence.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, including those with SEN
• Assist with lesson delivery and help learners understand and engage with their studies
• Encourage learner independence, confidence, and active participation in the classroom
• Work closely with teaching staff and other support colleagues to create a positive and inclusive environment
• Maintain accurate records of learner progress and contribute to ongoing assessment

Requirements:

• Experience working with learners with additional needs or SEN
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with learners and colleagues
• A caring, patient, and flexible approach
• A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion

Desirable:

• Relevant qualification in learning support, SEN, or a related field
• Previous experience in further education or post-16 settings
• Understanding of safeguarding principles and practices
