Learning Support Assistant

Morgan Hunt are recruiting for Learning Support Assistants (LSA) to join our expanding team of support staff helping students with additional needs access further education opportunities.

We have locations in the following areas -

• Trafford
• Bolton
• Tameside
• Rochdale
• Wigan
• Bury

The role of the LSA is to provide support students both in and out of the classroom, assisting both academically and pastorally across their college day. For this reason, the chosen candidate will be suitably qualified and/or experienced. Students may have a range of abilities and needs which may include ASD, ADHD, SEMH and/or communication needs.

We are looking for someone who is confident, dedicated and excels with working with young people.

The role will consist of:

• Providing tailored support with working with young people and SEN
• Creating a safe environment that allows children to have fun, learn and succeed
• Academic support 1:1 basis or in small groups
• Assisting the teacher

The ideal candidate:

• Someone who can demonstrate the necessary nurturing qualities required to work closely with SEN children
• Ideally with previous experience caring for those with additional needs
• Teaching Assistant / LSA qualification is ideal but not essential

What skills would serve you well in this role?

• The most important skill is a positive mindset and a passion for supporting SEND students; there will be professional development opportunities available within the role
• Experience of working with SEND or vulnerable people in a previous role; this could include in schools and also in settings such as healthcare, social care, community or youth work
• It is essential that you have good emotional intelligence and empathy for SEND students
