About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Solicitor or Barrister to join our legal team, specialising in housing management and landlord & tenant litigation. This is a dynamic role offering the opportunity to work on a wide range of contentious housing matters, with support from experienced colleagues and the chance to contribute to the development of in-house legal services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and assistance on routine and complex housing management and landlord & tenant matters.
• Conduct litigation including (but not limited to):
  
  • Anti-social behaviour injunctions and possession claims
  • Committal applications
  • Tenancy fraud possession claims
  • Access injunctions
  • Housing disrepair claims
  • Environmental Protection Act prosecutions
  • Court of Protection applications
  • Money claims
• Draft pleadings and legal documents including notices, claim forms, particulars of claim, witness statements, and trial bundles.
• Brief Counsel and conduct advocacy where appropriate.
• Advise on First Tier Tribunal cases, trespass, breach of easement, and other property-related disputes.
• Instruct external solicitors when necessary.
• Support the development of in-house legal services and contribute to process improvements.
• Provide witness support, including out-of-hours home visits where required.
• Maintain accurate legal records and ensure effective communication with internal stakeholders.
• Stay up to date with legal and regulatory developments affecting housing associations.
• Support junior legal team members and collaborate across departments.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Qualified Solicitor with a valid and current Law Society Practicing Certificate, or Barrister with a Bar Council certificate and confirmed ability to conduct litigation.
• Strong legal drafting and advocacy skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Desirable:

• Experience in housing management litigation, particularly within housing associations or public sector bodies.
• Familiarity with Housing and Landlord & Tenant law.
• Experience in developing legal processes and mentoring junior staff.
• Ability to manage complex litigation independently.

Additional Information

• Enhanced DBS and driving licence are not required for this role.
• The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a proactive, collaborative, and positive approach to their work.
