Local Taxation Officer

• Location: Oxford City (WFH will attendance in office for meetings when necessary)
• Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (Ongoing)
• Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a Local Taxation Officer for an immediate start in a dynamic role based at a council in Oxford. This position offers the flexibility of working from home with the requirement to attend meetings at Oxford Town Hall as needed. The role involves managing council tax and business rates accounts, ensuring accurate billing and collection in compliance with relevant legislation.

• Answering enquiries related to council tax and business rates.
• Creating and updating accounts to reflect accurate billing and collection information.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation pertaining to local taxation.
• Attending meetings as required.
• Utilising MS 365 packages to manage and organise data effectively.
• Reading and interpreting regulations to apply them correctly in day-to-day tasks.
• Communicating effectively with the public and other stakeholders via phone and other communication channels.

• Proficient in Microsoft 365 and other relevant IT systems.
• Strong ability to read, understand, and apply regulations.
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable using the phone to handle enquiries.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in a similar role within local government or taxation is highly advantageous.
