Hunter AHP have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with specialist experience in Microbiology to join a reputable NHS hospital based in North Wales. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a progressive and well-resourced microbiology department while gaining valuable NHS experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and specialist microbiology testing including culture, identification, and sensitivity (C&S)

• Use automated systems such as MALDI-TOF, BD Phoenix, and Vitek for bacterial identification and susceptibility

• Process a wide range of specimens (urine, blood, swabs, respiratory, etc.)

• Ensure compliance with UKAS/ISO 15189 and maintain quality standards

• Accurately record and validate results using LIMS

Essential Requirements:

• HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist

• Minimum of 1 year UK experience in a Microbiology lab

• Proficiency in specimen processing, culture techniques, and result interpretation

• Understanding of quality control and assurance in a clinical microbiology setting

Desirable:

• Previous NHS experience

• Experience with LIMS platforms like WinPath or Clinisys
